What if?

I remember when we would just talk and sit,
When it was just us and no distractions,
Then we fought and your personality is what I miss,
When you had a heart and so much passion.

A few years passed, and you probably don't remember me.
Sometimes I stay up at night and think "What if?"
What if I saw something neither of us could see?
That our love might have not been just a trick?

Do you think about the old us?
Or what we could have been?
Without the fighting and fuss?
That this story wouldn't end?

So once in a while think "What if?"
Instead of pretending I'm not alive,
That the sparks didn't die, but instead got lit,
Like without me, YOU would die.
